More on the bridge

Attached is a revised letter with the new shuttlebus information. It will not be travelling by the Alphington route.

The Phone number for the bus is +44 7455 600073. We are still waiting for confirmation of a scheduled 8am departure from Ide.

Shuttle bus information – revised

Latest updates on the bridge closure

We are discussing the route and timings of the shuttle service with the contractors, hoping to improve the arrangements.

We are suggesting a scheduled school run will leave Ide at 8am promptly and will drop at West Exe school as well as the twisted oak.

We are also asking for temporary “caution pedestrians” signage on the C50 to reduce speeds and protect those crossing the road to use the Crabbe lane route.

The school run looks likely but final confirmation to follow.

Please feel free to enter your email in the box on the right and you will be informed immediately of updates, or use the contact details on this site to contact us.

Bridge closure – further information

The shuttlebus will operate on an “on demand” basis and when not in use will park in The Twisted Oak

public house car park, as there is no safe place to park on the opposing side of the footbridge.

Pedestrians on the Ide side of the bridge wishing to use the bus will need to phone +44 7455 600

073 in order to summon it.  This number will be displayed at either end of the footbridge. This service will

be able to accommodate wheelchairs and cyclists, unfortunately dogs will not be permitted to travel on

Please bear in mind the bus will have to follow a route through Alphington Interchange which can be busy

at times.

If you would like any further information or need to contact us, please call our Network Control Centre on

01392 312630. This telephone line is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Traffic on Balls Farm Road

A number of residents have once again raised concerns about traffic using Balls Farm Road, Doctor’s Walk and Little John’s Cross illegally as a shortcut, including reports of aggressive drivers. This single track road has poor visibility and is used by many villagers including children walking and cycling to West Exe School. It is for the safety of these users that the traffic restrictions are in place.

We will be meeting with Councillors Roy Hill and Alan Connett shortly to discuss the matter. Residents with any concerns about these routes should contact them. Please copy your messages to Andy Swain as well so we have a record of your concerns.
