Curly Wurly bridge open for the weekend

An Update from Kier…

I am pleased to be able to tell you that we have completed the resurfacing of the footbridge ahead of schedule.  We will therefore be able to open the footbridge over the bank holiday weekend.  The bridge will be open from 5pm Friday 26 May and will close again on Tuesday 30 May to allow to complete the works.  A notice will be displayed at either end of the footbridge advising people of this.

The shuttle bus service will resume from 7am Tuesday 30 May, until 11pm Friday 2 June when, the bridge will be re-opened.

More road closures

There will be an additional road closure next week, at the end of Doctor’s Walk between the corner by the twisted oak pub and the twisted oak tree itself.

This is for pipework replacement.

Details on https://roadworks.org/  Zoom into the twisted oak and put Monday’s date in the box at the top right.

For more information you can call south west water on 0344 3462020.

I am advised that pedestrians and cyclists should still be able to pass, so it shouldn’t affect users of the bridge replacement bus service, but I am awaiting definite confirmation on that.

We will post further information when it comes available.

Shuttle Bus service at “curly wurly bridge”

Keir services have provided an additional back-up phone number after a local resident experienced difficulty this morning in contacting the shuttle bus service.

The numbers are 07455 600 073 and 0798 618 3595

If you have any issues or concerns, please contact Keir Highways on 01392 312630

There will be a scheduled run at 8am

This is confirmation that the shuttle bus company have agreed to do a scheduled run leaving Ide at 8am to the twisted oak for the benefit of those travelling to school or work who need a definite time.

Unfortunately, it has not been possible to arrange warning signs for the Crabbe lane/C50 junction. Please take care when crossing if you use this route.

We hope this helps.

Andy Swain, and Ide PC.

More on the bridge

Attached is a revised letter with the new shuttlebus information. It will not be travelling by the Alphington route.

The Phone number for the bus is +44 7455 600073. We are still waiting for confirmation of a scheduled 8am departure from Ide.

Shuttle bus information – revised

Latest updates on the bridge closure

We are discussing the route and timings of the shuttle service with the contractors, hoping to improve the arrangements.

We are suggesting a scheduled school run will leave Ide at 8am promptly and will drop at West Exe school as well as the twisted oak.

We are also asking for temporary “caution pedestrians” signage on the C50 to reduce speeds and protect those crossing the road to use the Crabbe lane route.

The school run looks likely but final confirmation to follow.

Please feel free to enter your email in the box on the right and you will be informed immediately of updates, or use the contact details on this site to contact us.

Thankyou,

Andy Swain
