Volunteer Support Network

Paula Burton-Perrett is coordinating the Parish Council Emergency Working Group.  During this crisis this group comprises representatives from the village volunteer network “Ide Angels”, Ide Community shop and the Church to offer help to those that need it.

We recognise that this is a very difficult time for all and as a community we want to make sure that everyone is cared for.  In response to the Covid 19 crisis, a small working group with representatives from different sections of our community, led by the Parish Council, met up with the primary objective of ensuring help and support is available for everyone – especially those who may be vulnerable or might be self isolating.

Ide Parish Council are now working in partnership with our Ide Community Shop and Ide Angels – a volunteer group led by the brilliant Sophie Caunter, who has recruited volunteers through social media and her network of friends and neighbours.

We have had a fantastic response to the request for helpers and now have about 50+ volunteers who are already providing support to local residents. At the moment we are ensuring people have help with their grocery shopping and errands, but we’re open to supporting our community further as the need arises.Details of how to access our service have been put into the Ide Times April 2020 and flyers have been distributed throughout the village.

If you need groceries you can phone the Ide Community shop directly on 01392 410035. Orders,  payment and delivery time can now be arranged and made over the phone. Our amazing shop has been working incredibly hard with suppliers to ensure we are well stocked!

Or alternatively you can send your request through to our dedicated email account idevolunteers@hotmail.co.uk and an Ide Angel will pick up your request and respond.

For more information or if you wish join our volunteers please contact idevounteers@hotmail.co.uk

I would like to give a big heartfelt thank you to everyone who has made this possible, by responding so quickly and helping us to put this in place.

Shop Volunteers – taking requests for Ide Angels

A number of lovely people have been working very hard to organise a delivery service “Ide Angels” from the Community Shop, to help Ide folk who are unable to go out for shopping during the Corona Crisis.

Thinking  of helping?

If you are the shop volunteer when an order for delivery is telephoned through this is what we would like you to do:

  1. Answer the phone;
  2. Find the customer order book on the right by till;
  3. If you are frantically busy just take the callers telephone number and call back when possible;
  4. Otherwise write the name, address and phone number of the caller in the order book, together with the required items;
  5. Two of the Ide Angels will come into the shop at about 5 30 and collect and scan the items, pack up the orders and deliver them.
  6. Please put one receipt in the folder provided by the till and one goes in the box being delivered. A copy remains in the book.

We are not anticipating the shop volunteer will ave to do anything apart from writing down the order details.
Please be aware this is new system being tried and we are not yet sure of the demand or how it will work.

Let’s give it our best shot.
